Rebecca's Buzz

Dear Honey Bears and Bumble Bees,

WOW!!   What a summer!  I attended Washington’s Grand Chapter, went to Sumpter the Fourth of July for the Strawberry Booth, thanks to all who baked or brought cupcakes and those who were able to work at the booth Memorial Day & Fourth of July, attended several installations, Grand School of Instruction at Cottage Grove, headed to San Antonio Texas for a week of site seeing and Grand Chapter of Texas, home for a day for the Price family Reunion and then with Carolyn to Pocatello Idaho for her Grand Family picnic,  Honey Bear Summer Event on the STERNWHEELER with 22 of us present, what a great day as it was my birthday, Thank You Honey Bears for my cute bear with the birthday cake figurine, and the cake that Patti Nielsen, our President, brought and what better way to celebrate then with friends, picture attached.  I am home for 1 week and then I start my Schools of Instruction on Sept. 8th at Ramona, list included,  and I am only home for 2 days after that until Nov. 15th.  Denis tells everyone that he only writes on the calendar the days I am home not when I am gone.

Thank You Honey Bears for helping elect Brother Joe Jarvis as our Grand Sentinel, he is full of great ideas and likes to have fun.  The smile on his face is contagious and he loves the Masonic Order.  You will see that he is very busy with many different groups, but he is ours for the next three years.

I hope everyone is ready for this coming year.  It is going to be a busy one.  There is a list of luncheon dates later in this newsletter, please try to attend if possible.  We have cut back to just about every other month as most of the time we are discussing the same things.  We have planned a couple of fun events, in December we will have a Christmas Party, any ideas??  Last year we rented a room and watched the boats on the Willamette River and ate great snacks, especially the chocolate fountain.  Do you have an idea of somewhere else or something else you would like to do?  We are game for just about anything.  On April 12,  2008  we are planning on attending the Hawaiian Luau at Pacific University,  this includes a meal, 2 hours of entertainment and a lei, about $30.00 for the evening.  In February we plan on having a work day, to work on the Christmas socks for our year, at Jennings McCall.  Start collecting items to glue on the socks, they are red socks with a white top, buttons, lace, glue, scissors  I found stickers that were Christmasy that are pre glued and ready to go on.  If many of us show up it won’t take too long, we have around 200 socks to do.  Also, we will have the NEW TO YOU this next year at Grand Chapter, so ask your members if they have used clothes they would donate for this, sequin tops, skirts, formals, day dresses, men’s clothing, shoes, ties, vests, old tux’s, golf sweaters, etc.  all these items went very well, the Oregon Gems made about $1500.00 on this project and all of it is profit.

I would like to welcome all of the New Honey Bear Conductresses, we are a fun group.  Information on Dues, Badge Orders, Dresses, Dresses for your Escorts (optional) are included in this mailing.  If you wish to continue to receive our newsletter, by email or snail mail, either email Rebecca Price at  Rebecca@honeybearsandbumblebees.com or go to our website to read all the newsletters, bylaws,  get order forms., etc.  our website is www.honeybearsandbumblebees.com, or write me, otherwise we do not send to those who are not interested it is too expensive.  Several have let me know, don’t worry if you are already on the list I will be sending to you without further notification from you.

Exciting news is that Grand Chapter has an Official Website,  www.oregonoes.org, please take a look and give us feedback, secretary’s forms will be up soon, if not already.  We have been given the okay to put everything but the secret work on this site.  The directory is password protected, if you click on Directory it will ask for user name and then password.  To get this information you can contact the Grand Secretary or hopefully in her first mailing to the Secretary’s of your chapter’s she will include this.  Sorry I can’t put this on the web site or it would not be protected.

I would like to Thank the Honey Bears for the beautiful corsage I received at Grand Chapter and the great snack basket I had in my room, loved the red licorice.  You looked beautiful in your dresses during proving of Grand Chapter and many people commented on how nice our dresses looked.  Our raffles went fairly well and the winners were:  Honey Bear Basket Pat Marcum, Golden Rule Chapter,   Romance Basket Carol Currie, Forest Chapter,  Men’s Basket Alan Beebe, Junction City Chapter, Pendleton Baskets were:  Elaine Myers, Queen Esther Chapter, Barbara Nusbaum, Ramona Chapter and Tanna Craddock won the Pendleton Blanket Package from Esther Chapter.  We also were able to sell all of our five year calendars at Grand Chapter, with Ways and Means making about $550.00 which included the raffle money.

Thank You again for all you do for Joe and I and the Order of Eastern Star, even if you cannot be with us at a meeting send your questions or comments to us so we can discuss these items at our meetings.
