Rebecca’s Buzz

Dear Honey Bears and Bumble Bees,

I am writing this from the coast at Newport, where I just finished my school of instruction at Sunset-Fuchsia, I am having a great time with my schools and hate to think that I only have eight left after the first of November.
The reception for Joe and I is fast approaching, I hope all of you will be able to attend.  If you wish to eat with us before the reception you need to send in your reservations right away with your check for $14.00 to Rebecca Price because we have to prepay for all meals.  There will be no meals sold at the door.
We will be having a luncheon at Hope Chapter in La Grande on Nov. 17th (the day of our reception) at 11:30 you must contact Tom Kissinger our V. President for reservations if you are not on the permanent list.  Call him at 503-665-2185 or email at tjkiss@msn.com by Nov. 12th.

Please come prepared to discuss our Christmas Party plans for Dec. 7th or 9th, as Sister Patti will be unable to host as planned, come prepared with ideas of other places or homes available.

On Nov. 18th the Grand Officers will be doing a Grand Initiation at Grande Ronde Valley in Union at noon.  I Hope some of you will be able to stay and attend.

My email address is wrong in the list of grand officers it is suppose to be rmprice@fmtc.com please change this in your address book.

                                    Honey Bear Love,

                                    Rebecca Price, the Queen Bee

Joe’s Jive

Hello, HB & BB’s.

We are fast approaching the holiday season, which means that we are almost halfway through the Chapter year.   My how the time flies when you are having fun.

Thanksgiving reminds us of the warm days of last summer and the vegetables that came from the family garden or the neighbors’ garden.  Now is the time when we can enjoy those things that were canned or frozen for winter use.  Winter is nearly here.

With Christmas we celebrate the birth of Christ and the joy that his birth has brought to the world.  It should be a time of peace between families and nations.

New Year brings two celebrations.  The first, we made it through the old year.

The second, it will wipe out all of the screw ups from the previous year and  we can start over with a clean slate.

The most important part of all of these holidays is that they bring our families and friends together. It is the time  when we should put aside all of the little family disputes and enjoy each others company.  It is a time to visit with friends.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR

Joe

The Prezz Buzz

Dear Honeybears:

I hope you are all looking forward to attending the reception for our Rebecca and Joe.  If you have not spent much time in the Eastern part of our state, this is an opportunity to see some of the “real” Eastern Oregon.  The reception will be a fun evening started off with wonderful dinner.  And believe me those people in Eastern Oregon know how to feed a person.

The group discussed a Christmas party at our September meeting.  I had offered my house and then realized that we have other plans that happen to fall on the weekend of December 9th.  Hopefully the group can come up with something that would be fun and possibly others would like to join the group.

Please keep in mind that we are planning some work parties and we will all need to help out if at all possible.  More information will be coming soon.

Hope to see you all in Elgin for a good “ole” Eastern Oregon good time.

Your President,
Patti

September Minutes

The September 2007 meeting of the Honey Bears and Bumble Bees was held September 29, at Victoria Chapter in Turner, with luncheon prepared by Trinity Chapter #175.  We were joined by the 7-11s and following luncheon and introduction of distinguished guests, the 7-11 group adjourned to practice escorting and the HB/BB group met in the dining room.

President Patti Nielsen called the meeting to order and re-introduced Grand Conductress Rebecca Price and her escort Carolyn Patrick.  Grand Committee members were also recognized.  It was moved and seconded that minutes of the June meeting be approved as distributed.  Motion carried.

Treasurer Mary Maxwell reported on the growth of the treasury over the summer, especially due to the hard work of a few of our members who faithfully supported the Strawberry Shortcake booth at Sumpter in May and July.  As of today our treasury has a balance of $4,865.46.  In the discussion of the fund-raising potential of the booth at Sumpter it was noted that by far, Memorial Day is the best time to operate the booth.  Sister Rebecca reminded us that Shrine transportation is an advertised beneficiary of the booth.   Sister Carolyn moved that we give $25 to the Shrine Transportation fund.  Motion was seconded and carried.

The next luncheon will be held Nov. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Hope Chapter in LaGrande.

Discussion of the reception for Sister Rebecca and Brother Joe to be held that evening in Elgin followed.  Everyone is invited to attend the dinner preceding the reception at the Elgin Stampede Grounds.  Deadline for reservations for the dinner  is November 7.  Cost of the dinner is $14 and must be prepaid. There is a choice of chicken or beef.  Blue Mountain Chapter will be doing decorations for the event.  The reception will follow at 7:30 pm.

The group decided to have a Christmas Party at the home of Patti Nielsen, 16334 NE Fargo in east Portland on Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 pm.  Everyone is invited.

Luncheon schedule for 2008 begins with a meeting and luncheon on Feb. 9 at Naomi Chapter in Dallas.  This will be a work session to complete the Christmas Stockings which we will be distributing to all residents of JMII, not just members of the Home.

Sister Rebecca reported that the Delegate bags are under control and there will be further information about those in the newsletter.  She submitted bills in the amount of $116 and it was moved they be paid.  Motion seconded and carried.  Kits for Honey Bear bags are still available to $20 and that includes everything but handles.

Discussion was held about the kind of fund raising that must be done to meet the expenses proposed for our Grand Chapter Session.  Sister Rebecca projects that we will need $8,000, and based on the opportunities available to us for fund raising, it would appear that we should be able to do very well with the “Second Hand Rose” booth this next year.  Formals will be coming to us by April 12, but we should also plan to have men’s formal clothing available as well as nice dresses other than formals.

We should also focus on Honey Bear and Bees jewelry items as they have been among the best sellers at our current table.  Anything that we make from the table helps but we should try to be as creative as possible.

Sister Rebecca reported on the OES website.  A password is required to access some items on the website, however the secretary of your Chapter will be able to help you should you need to download some items, such as labels.  The website’s url  is:

Several first-timers were introduced and we look forward to welcoming new Conductresses to our meetings – and to our own website:
