Minutes of Meeting
April 14, 2007

The Honey Bears and Bumble Bees met following a luncheon April 14, 2007 at Columbia Chapter in The Dalles . Vice-President Patti Nielsen presided in the absence of our President Carolyn Beecher and called the meeting to order. Associate Grand Conductress Rebecca Price had been previously introduced during the luncheon which included members of the Lamplighters Group.

Minutes of the March meeting were revised to indicate that Sister Carol Gorham had donated one of the two packages of tickets for our Pendleton Basket to be sold at Grand Chapter. Brother Joe Jarvis donated the other package of tickets. Minutes approved as corrected.

Sister Patti introduced Sister Ellen Avery, a first-timer to our group meetings and a first-time Associate Conductress as well. She is A/C of Redmond Chapter and we are glad she has joined the Honey Bears.

Treasurer Sister Mary Maxwell reported an ending balance of $1,460.91 from March and receipts of $281.50 for a balance of $1742.41 Bills of 37.00 for badges were paid as well. Carolyn Patrick moved and it was seconded that the group reimburse Carol Gorham $140.00 for the Pendleton Blanket she purchased at our request for our Pendleton Basket. Motion carried.

Under Visiting and Cheer, Sister Carolyn Patrick reported that she had send a card of sympathy to Carol Gorham in the loss of her mother, and Thinking of You cards to Jean Cartwright who has been unable to meet with us the past few months because she has been caring for her sister, to Reva Ortez, A/C of Orchid Chapter, and to Gerri Sutton, A/C of Coos Chapter, who had a heart attack.

Unfinished Business

Under Unfinished Business, Sister Rebecca shared a tentative schedule of our 2008 meeting times to gain our input on locations and for suggestions for activities. The Grand Reception for Sister Rebecca (and for Brother Joe when he is elected) will be November 17 at the Stampede Grounds in Elgin , with a dinner open to all who can attend.

We must all remember to send emails or to phone Patti Nielsen with our reservations for the May meeting which will be at Pioneer Chapter in Oregon City at 11:30 a.m. May 19.

Sisters Jean Cartwright, Judie Kissinger and Patti Nielsen volunteered to serve during Proving at Grand Chapter. Other A/Cs should feel free to volunteer for this opportunity as they are available as well.

The Sumpter Shortcake Booth will need at least 60 dozen cupcakes beginning with the Memorial Day weekend. Cupcakes are made of yellow cake mix, 18 per package and baked in paper wrappers to facilitate their use at the Festival. Cupcakes can be brought in appropriate boxes to the May meeting and will be frozen and transported to Sumpter by members going to those events. Those wishing to attend should call for motel reservations in Baker City now as space is already sold out in Sumpter.

Some of the contents of our “Pendleton Round-Up” Basket were on display at our table today. Carolyn Patrick has a Honey Bear basket already made up. Judie Kissinger will prepare a list of potential contents for the “men’s basket” and Jean Cartwright offered to coordinate the “Romance Basket” and will prepare a suggested list of suggested items.

Sister Carolyn distributed tickets for the Pendleton Basket and tickets will also be mailed to those not attending today’s meeting as this is a very valuable basket and we need to sell many opportunities to others outside of our group.

Judie reported that Ways and Means earned $252.25 today and that there is always a need for items for our table. The pins that were donated by a deceased member who had been very active in the Grand Representatives and Ambassadors group were on the table today and were very popular. We will also be receiving additional merchandise from our contact with OES and Masonic jewelry for Grand Chapter.

Sister Carolyn reminded us of the need for Ode Cards for Sister Rebecca’s scrapbook.

It was moved and seconded that we send our previously approved check for $250.00 for the website development fees to Grand Chapter today. Motion carried.

Sister Rebecca will check again on arrangement for the Sternwheeler cruise from Cascade Locks as a potential for our summer picnic. The Evergreen Museum was also suggested with a picnic afterwards.

Judie Kissinger and Jean Cartwright volunteered to serve as our Nominating Committee.

Under new business, Sister Rebecca announced the following as members of the Earth Angels’ Grand Family for 2007-2008:
