Minutes of Meeting of the Priceless Wonders

October 21, 2006

The Priceless Wonders met Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at Barzallai Chapter in Albany OR. Following a delicious luncheon, Sister Rebecca and Sister Theresa provided instruction in escorts and introductions. The Priceless Wonders then retired to the Library for their business meeting.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and the Treasurer, Mary Maxwell, reported a balance of $753.41.

Sister Rebecca reported that there are two additional Associate Conductresses, Kay Dye, of Adarel Chapter, and a new member has accepted that office in Reames Chapter. There are about 20 Chapters that do not have an installed Associate Conductress now.

Unfinished Business
  • Sister Rebecca reported that Kimi is trying to have our dresses finished and sent to us by Nov. 4. Kits for the Bags are assembled and will cost $20 without the handles. These will be available Nov. 4 in Nyssa. The Honeybear is on the front and the Eastern Star emblem on the back.
  • She is working with a company to have our badges digitized and will have a report at the Nov. 4 meeting.
  • A committee of Grand Officers is to meet Nov. 10 to decide the dates for each group to work at the Sumpter Strawberry booth.
  • The By-laws are nearing completion – there was a concern that they clearly state that eligibility for a memento is based on full payment of dues from the time a person is elected to the line position. After reviewing the wording, it was determined that the current language expresses our intent.
  • Luncheon meeting on Nov. 4 will be at Golden Rule Chapter in Nyssa, and it was decided to hold the luncheon at 12:30 MST – 11:30 PST.
  • If our dresses are here, we will change during the reception – otherwise, we will wear black skirts and white tops, with escorts wearing white skirts and black tops. (except for Jack Maxwell)
  • Under Ways and Means Committee business, the contact person for jewelry lives in Washington state and Sister Rebecca will hear from her later to determine the basis for consigning jewelry for sale by our group.
  • Mailing of the November newsletter will be the last full paper newsletter sent to everyone. After that, the monthly newsletter will be sent via email unless a member specifically requests a paper copy. Those wishing a paper copy must notify Sister Rebecca or Debbie deBoer. The address for our website is www.honeybearsandbumblebees.com and all newsletters will be available on the website. The form to order badges will be available in pdf format on the website and there will be a photo gallery as well as links to the Grand Chapter office, to General Grand Chapter, and to the other Grand jurisdictions.
  • Our December Holiday meeting will be held Friday night, Dec. 8 at 7 pm at the Riverplace Hotel in Portland. We will have a suite on the river side of the hotel so that we can watch the lighted yachts that sail on the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. Cost of the suite is $339 and we would each pay a portion of the costs. Judie Kissinger moved and Jack Maxwell seconded that we reserve the suite to watch the yachts. We also agreed to have a raffle for 2007 with the winner spending the night in the suite.
  • Our calendars will be ready for sale at the luncheon in Nyssa Nov. 4. Approximate driving time from Troutdale to Ontario is 6 to 7 hours, with gas and potty breaks according to those who have made the journey many many times.
New Business
  • Carolyn Patrick will help Rebecca’s daughter , Denise, with the photography at the reception Nov. 4.
  • The Ways and Means Committee discussed the project for fund raising at Grand Chapter. It was agreed that we will assemble five baskets maximum. Themes for the baskets include:
    • Made in Oregon
    • Honeybees
    • Pendleton memorabilia
    • Golfers
    • Ladies’ night
  • The Pendleton basket will include 4 tickets to the Pendleton Roundup at the center of the grandstand. We will gather other items for the baskets during the next months.
  • Denise is also working on the banners for our Grand Chapter year – they will be vinyl painted with bumblebees and honeybears. She will give us a bill for these later.
  • Carolyn Beecher announced that Carolyn Patrick will serve as our “gift lady”, Judie Kissinger will serve a 3-year term on the finance committee and Phyllis Newcomb will serve a 2-year term on that committee.

Meeting adjourned

Respectfully submitted
